Organising Outings is extremely important to us and of course, our resident’s happiness and it’s important we keep everyone active and engaged with the outside world. We organise both group and individual activities; such as outings to Althorpe House for lunch, Woburn Abbey to see the wildlife and Rushton Hall for a look around the gardens and their stately home.

Staff and residents day out at Foxton Locks. We also organise regular functions in support of local and national charities and invite the local community and villagers to join us as residents enjoy meeting new people at our regular coffee mornings and garden events.

Residents and staff enjoying a summer drink at the local Swan Inn, just a stones throw away.

Regular BBqs and garden events take place during the spring and summer.

In-house Activities:

We also run regular in-house classes such as baking, arts and crafts and flower arranging. Residents can take part in card games, colouring crafts and participate in bingo or bowling.

Plant potting and decorating a Brookside

Gardening can prove very therapeutic. Residents have recently enjoyed trips to East Farndon farm shop and also planting their own plants in Brookside gardens and decorating plant pots during arts and crafts.

Flower arranging and some arts and crafts with the ladies at Brookside.

And Cake decorating triggered some wonderful child hood memories.
Sing A Long with Ann Marie at Brookside:

Anne Marie – ‘Dusty and Friends’ brings a magical tribute to Brookside. Great voices of the 50s and 60s come to Brookside, performed by vocalist Ann Marie.

Weekly Visits from Sandra Potter:

Keeping our residents actively engaged is extremely important for their wellbeing. Sandra Potter comes to Brookside every Tuesday and organises the bowling and hosts the quiz days with the residents.

Every Xmas Santa comes to visit:

The residents and care team at Brookside enjoyed a Christmas Party in 2017:

Santa Claus was a big surprise at the start of the day as he turned up to hand out presents to each of the residents. Residents opened their gifts and showed each other what they had received. It was great to watch them interacting with each other and it provided plenty of conversation. Who was the man behind the beard?

The party was completed with an afternoon of festive decorating, mince pies and mulled wine.

Testimonials

Brookside is a small independent care home that does what it says on the tin, "they care". The resident's rooms are home from home. They are well furnished, tastefully decorated, warm and welcoming. The residents, if they choose, are able to eat together and socialise together and genuinely form friendships. The staff are helpful and attentive and well trained. It was thanks to them that my mother's recent bout of breathlessness was identified early and the paramedics were called enabling her to be taken to A & E promptly. This care home and its staff are special. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care services and facilities of Brookside Residential to any prospective client families.

Testimonials

My nan chose Brookside herself at the age of 96, she liked the smallness and family feel with home cooked meals, outings and planned activities. The room was faultless, everything an elderly lady needed. The garden was lovely and accessible. The staff were helpful, kind, caring and understanding. The last year of my nan's life she got really frail and ill, she was rushed to hospital a few times. The staff were great with her care. My Nan died at Brookside care home, very peacefully and with as much dignity as possible. She was comfortable and happy to the end. A few of the staff attended her funeral and were visibly upset, it showed they cared.

A lovely residential care home in a rural location with kind, caring staff. They offer many different activities on a daily/weekly basis to ensure the residents have interaction, including craft days, baking, sing-a-longs and day trips too. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Keep up the good work!
